In a move to move past “one-size-fits-all” health metrics, Oura has unveiled its first proprietary AI model designed specifically for women’s health. This custom-built intelligence powers the Oura Advisor chatbot, offering personalized insights that span the entire reproductive spectrum—from early menstrual cycles and pregnancy through perimenopause and menopause.
A Data-Driven Approach to Female Physiology
The new model isn’t just a generic chatbot; it is grounded in established medical standards and clinical research reviewed by Oura’s in-house team of board-certified experts and women’s health specialists. By integrating a user’s long-term biometric signals, the AI provides guidance tailored to individual trends in sleep, activity, stress, and cycle data.
Bridging the Gap in Women’s Wellness
Oura’s Chief Medical Officer, Ricky Bloomfield, MD, emphasizes that the complexity of women’s health is too often overlooked by standard AI systems. This model aims to address that gap by pairing rigorous science with the longitudinal data captured by the Oura Ring. This strategic focus aligns with the company’s shifting demographics; Chief Commercial Officer Dorothy Kilroy previously noted that women in their early 20s now represent the brand’s fastest-growing user segment.
Privacy and User Experience
Oura has intentionally designed the AI to be “non-dismissive” and emotionally supportive, ensuring users feel heard when discussing sensitive health changes. However, the company stresses that the tool is not a diagnostic device or a substitute for a doctor’s treatment plan.
Security and privacy are central to the rollout:
- The model is hosted entirely on Oura-controlled infrastructure.
- User conversations are private and are never shared or sold to third parties.
- The feature is currently available through Oura Labs, the app’s opt-in experimental hub.
To explore these new capabilities, members can navigate to the Oura Labs section in the upper-left menu of the Oura app to opt into the experimental feature.
