Tubi is fundamentally changing how viewers find their next binge-watch. By launching a native app within ChatGPT, the Fox-owned streaming giant has become the first major player in the industry to integrate directly into the AI platform’s ecosystem.
A Conversational Approach to Content
The integration aims to solve the “discovery fatigue” that plagues modern streaming. Instead of endlessly scrolling through rows of thumbnails, users can now install the Tubi app from the ChatGPT store and use the “@Tubi” command to start a conversation.
The AI understands natural-language requests, allowing for highly specific prompts like “a thriller for girls’ night” or “something funny.” It then provides curated recommendations from Tubi’s massive library of over 300,000 movies and TV episodes, complete with direct links to watch.
A Strategic Pivot in AI Implementation
This isn’t Tubi’s first experiment with artificial intelligence. In 2023, the company introduced Rabbit AI, an in-house mobile feature powered by OpenAI. While that tool was eventually discontinued, this new move suggests a strategic shift: rather than building proprietary AI interfaces, Tubi is meeting its audience on the platforms they already use.
With ChatGPT reporting 900 million weekly active users as of February 2026, the scale is too large to ignore. For Tubi—which boasts over 100 million monthly active users—this integration is a powerful way to stay competitive against rivals like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
The Growing ChatGPT Ecosystem
Tubi joins an elite group of brands building native experiences within ChatGPT. The store already features integrations from Spotify, Expedia, Canva, DoorDash, and SeatGeek.
Investing in New Talent
Beyond its AI initiatives, Tubi is also focusing on original content through its Creatorverse Incubator. This program is designed to support emerging content creators by providing funding and promotional backing for original shows that will debut exclusively on the platform.
