Porsche is doubling down on its electric future by introducing the Cayenne Coupe Electric. Set to hit the market in late summer 2026, this sleek, four-door variant joins the standard Cayenne EV, the S, and the high-performance Turbo models as the brand strengthens its presence in the luxury electric SUV segment.
A Strategic Move into Sportier SUVs
The decision to electrify the coupe silhouette is driven by clear market demand. Since its 2019 debut, the gas-powered Porsche Cayenne coupe has grown from 20% to 40% of the model’s total sales, even reaching a staggering 90% in specific regions.
Unlike the smaller Macan, which is transitioning exclusively to electric power, the Cayenne will maintain a “dual-track” strategy. Porsche plans to sell the electric variants alongside internal combustion and hybrid models well beyond 2030, allowing the brand to gather data on consumer preferences during the global energy transition.
Performance and Hardware
The Cayenne Coupe Electric sits on an 800-volt powertrain architecture designed for rapid charging. Notably, it will feature the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port popularized by Tesla, alongside a traditional AC port. Standard features across all trims include:
- Advanced air suspension
- An adaptive rear spoiler
- A redesigned windshield and 911-inspired sloping roofline
- Additional storage via a front trunk (frunk)
Power Tiers and Pricing
The lineup is divided into three distinct performance brackets:
- Base Coupe Electric ($113,800): Delivers 435 hp and a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds.
- S Coupe Electric ($131,200): Offers a mid-tier balance of range and speed.
- Turbo Coupe Electric ($168,000): A flagship powerhouse producing 1,139 hp and 1,106 lb-ft of torque. It rivals the Tesla Model S Plaid and Lucid Air Sapphire with a 0-60 mph sprint of just 2.4 seconds.
While official EPA range figures are pending, early testing suggests a real-world range of approximately 360 miles, though opting for larger performance tires may reduce that efficiency by about 10%. This new addition ensures that the Porsche Taycan is no longer the only high-performance electric option for Porsche enthusiasts.
