Swedish freight pioneer Einride is accelerating its journey toward the public markets. The company recently secured a $113 million PIPE (private investment in public equity) that was notably oversubscribed, signaling robust investor interest despite a shifting economic landscape. This capital injection arrives as Einride prepares for its anticipated debut on the New York Stock Exchange in the first half of 2026.
The funding is tied to a merger with Legato Merger Corp., a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC). While the deal now values Einride at a pre-money valuation of $1.35 billion—a dip from the initial $1.8 billion projection—the financial package remains substantial. Combined with $100 million in previous crossover financing and the SPAC’s trust account, the company expects total gross proceeds of approximately $333 million to fuel its next phase of global growth.
Revolutionizing the Heavy-Duty Fleet
Einride’s approach to logistics is distinct. Rather than just retrofitting existing trucks, the startup has developed bespoke electric vehicles and autonomous “pods” designed entirely without a driver’s cab. This hardware is supported by a sophisticated digital operating system that optimizes freight movement across continents.
The company already boasts a significant global footprint, including:
- Operational Scale: A fleet of 200 heavy-duty electric trucks operating across North America, Europe, and the Middle East.
- Blue-Chip Partnerships: Large-scale logistics operations for industry giants like PepsiCo, Heineken, and DP World.
- Autonomous Trials: Targeted deployments of driverless pods with GE Appliances in the U.S. and Apotea in Sweden.
A Competitive Landscape
Einride is not the only autonomous vehicle firm to utilize the SPAC route for scaling. It follows in the footsteps of Aurora Innovation, which went public in 2021, and Kodiak AI, which transitioned to the public market in 2025.
With backing from high-profile investors like EQT Ventures and major U.S. asset managers, Einride intends to use its new capital to expand its technological roadmap and broaden its autonomous deployments. As the global shipping industry shifts toward sustainable, driverless solutions, Einride’s successful funding round suggests that the market remains hungry for the future of autonomous freight.
